Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat Leader, last weekend joined Colin Breed MP and Karen Gillard, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for South East Cornwall to visit a mixed use farm at the end of Mr Clegg's two day visit to Cornwall.

Getting to Grips with Rural Issues

Mr Clegg, Mr Breed and Miss Gillard toured Trewolland Farm, just outside Liskeard, meeting a group of local farmers to discuss the problems faced by Cornish farms. The spread of Bovine TB is a major talking point at the moment - the Government has restricted the movement of farm animals around the country, but have done nothing to address its spread via wild animals like badgers. Colin Breed, who has campaigned on this issue for a long time, likened it to shoring up the front door whilst leaving the side door wide open. Mr Clegg also listened to fears over rising living costs across the county, including the cost of 'red' diesel and the cost of feed. On both issues, the Government simply isn't listening to rural communities.
